The Government is now in full control of the situation. It surprised Nazis by its swift action after the tragedy. A partial curfew has been imposed in the city, and restaurants and cafes have been ordered to shut at 10 at night. Theatres and cinemas are not allowed to open. There are 900 Nazi prisoners in Styria. The arrest of Herr Bowhm and General Wagner are confirmed. Others arrested include Dr. Renner, cxChancellor, Herr 'Steinhause, police chief, Herr Potwaidie, editor of the pan-American newspaper, Herr Andreas Hamberger, a journalist, also a son of Herr Habicht. Skirmishes at Messendorf, Kaiserwald and Frohnleiten were suspended by an armistice conditional upon the surrender of the rebels today. The Hcimwehr, killing three and capturing 25, drove off Nazis who were attempting to capture the concentration camp at Graz in order to liberate the prisoners there. The death roll in Upper Styria, where there has been fierce fighting, is now 20 Hcimwehr troops and a large number of rebels. Army reinforcements are hastening to Locben, Liczen and Donawitz. Government troops have driven the Nazis from Radkersburg into Yugoslavia, where they refused to surrender their arms and threw them into the river. Later the Nazis wore granted asylum as political refugees. SPECIAL TRIBUNAL. DEATH, WITHOUT APPEAL. LEADER AN EX-SERGEANT. (Received 11.30 a.m.) VIENNA, July 2G. Cabinet has decided to appoint a special military court of one judge and three officers to try the rebels. It is understood that death is the only possible sentence, from which there is no appeal. The leader of the rebels was a former (Sergeant, Holzweber, who for two years has been leader of the Austrian Nazis. STERILISATION ORDER ITALIAN WOMAN CONCERNED. GERMANY ANGERS ITALY. ( (Received Noon.) ROME, July 2fi. ' A German court order for the compulsory sterilisation of an Italian woman, Senora Rosa Labriola, caused 1 a wave of anger throughout Italy. 1 “Lavora Fascista” says that Nazism 1 strangely resembles the instincts of a i barbarian tribe, and renounces the j whole history of humanity. It laughs j at the superiority of spirit over matter, - and the paper says it drags down Ger- ( man citizens to the level of boasts. If Gormans continue in this way, the day will come when other nations will * have no common basis of understanding 1 with them. f
