MANY BICYCLES STOLEN
GUILT ADMITTED. SIX MONTHS’ GAOL. (Special to “Northern Aavocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day. A man who admitted stealing 19 bicycles, mostly belonging to relief workers, was sentenced yesterday to Ax -months’ imprisonment. Jiis counsel said he was a bookkeeper, who had worked well for prominent city firms until 1929, when ho was retrenched. He had gradually been reduced to poverty and, stealing one bicycle, had found it easy to sell it, and so slide more. 'fhe police said the bicycles had been sold to 19 different dealers. There wme mine than 19 stolen, but some were unt raceabie. The magistrate told the prisoner, Austral Helix Hroad, aged -17, that imprisonment was the only possible thing in tin 1 circumstances.
