BOYS’ BRIGADE
SWIMMING CARNIVAL. WIT A NO A RET THE WINNERS. The North Auckland Officers* Council of the Boys’ Brigade held a very successful swimming carnival in the Whangarei school baths on Wednesday night. Those who braved the weather, which was rather inclement, were highly delighted with the evenly contested competitions. Teams from the Portland, Whangar' I ’, Kamo and ITiknrangi companies competed for the Boys’ Brigade Challenge Swimming Shield. A totalling of the points gained
,• proved the Whangaroi team to ho the winners. ! Mr B. Belcher gave an excellent , swimming and diving exhibition, which ■ was veiy much appreciated by all. In the absence of'the Rev. V. Thomas, of Tlikurangi, president of the Officers’ Council, Mr Cook, vice-president, congratulated the winning team upon their success and the other teams upon their excellent efforts. A hearty vote of thanks was given to the members of the Whangaroi Amateur Swimming Club who very kindly and ably supervised the sports, also to the Whangaroi School Committee an.i Mr Baird for the use of the swimming baths.
