THE SOCIAL WORLD ST. PATRICK’S DANCE, ■SATURDAY NIGHT SUCCESS. In honour. o¥ St. Patrick V: Day, a most enjoyable dance was held in Purdy’s Hall on Satniday night. There was.a large attendance, and the function, proved highly successful. Excellent music was provid 'd by Mr A. Massey and Mr .1. Laverick, and Mr A, Sankey efficiently performed the duties of M.C. The prizes for a Monte Carlo waltz wore carried off by Miss Jean Me Finlay and Air T. Hall. Supper, provided and dispensed by the committee, was very acceptable.

On Thursday, .15th just., 4U ladies availed themselves of the invitation to a social and gift afternoon promoted by the ladies of the Presbyterian Church Guild and held in the church hall. After the singing of a hymn the president, Mrs P.rierly, led iu a prayer of thanksgiving for homes, loved ones, friends, etc. The musical programme which followed was of a high order and greatly

enter a team in the Whangarei competit ion. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr R. Scott; president, Air R. F. Hall; vice-presidents, Messrs S. .(. Wood, A. (‘adman and .1. T. Stark; secretary and treasurer, Air ('. Atkinson; committee, Messrs G. Atkinson, R. F. Hall, M. May, M. B. Ansell and J. Hamilton; auditor, Mr S. J. AVood; selectors, 'Messrs AL An-sell, M. Hikurangi are fortunate in having the services of .Mr .Max' Bay, a Now Zealand representative, who has reeentlv been transferred to the teaching staff of the Whakapara school. Under Mr Pay’.-; tuition, if should not lie .long before the newly formed club is giving a good account of itself. At the close of a most enthusiastic meeting, a vote of thanks was passed to Mesers Primmer and Patterson for their attendance. There is every prospect that later a Saturdav club mav lie formed.
