MANAGERS’ REPORTS
? Mataki. (Murchison). —The dredge , had been working well. We con- . tinned dredging broadside on to the i river in a westerly direction until c Thursday, when the dredge was turned upstream. The prospects in the I river are good. At the present time the face extends 1. chain into the river, tiie remainder being a high bank • where the prospects are not so good. ' j M’e will continue opening out into the river, and in about a Avcek will be through the poorest of the bank area. Erom then on the return should improve. Bo far. the Avash in the river has been only lift and 12ft in ■ depth, but carries a good sample of gold. Goleonda (Thames). —During last Avoek we cleaned up the face in the ] drive on the main reef, at the 70ft j level, going toAvard the slide, and resumed driving, advancing 7 feet. The reef is as wide as the drive, and is iioav veering to the right. The quartz is carrying a fair amount of mineral and a, little zinc blende. The country on the hanging-wall side is improving, being of a nice, mild nature, i interlaced wilh quarlz stringers. Wo 'continued u crosscut into tin 1 hanging' wall country of the reef, and advanced S feet, Three droppers Avere passed through, each being about 3 inches wide, in the first one we saw a few colours of gold. The country rock is of a good description, and further quarlz should be cut at any j lime. I Dawn of Hope (Thames). —Driving liillAvard on the hanging-wall dropper has been continued during the past Aveok, the distance driven being a furl her 5 feet. The leader is now showing In the face a width of t> inches. . If is encased in a very linn class of country, but. of a good description for values.
