The magazine “Gendai” published an interview with Admiral Snctsugu, in which he declared that Colonel Charles Lindbergh, the famous American airman, had carried out espionage in connection with the coastal fortifications of Japan. This caused indignation in America.

In the Diet today, .Mr Kiyose demanded an explanation. The Minister of the Navy, General Osumi, replied that Admiral Suetsugu did not write the article.

General Osumi confessed that the article went too far, but said an explanation had been communicated to the American press.
