TENNIS NEWS.

MATCH WITH AVOCA. A meeting of the Parakao Tennis Club was held last Tuesday night. In the absence of the president, Mr A. Pollock (vice-president) presided. ,A notice of motion dealing with the ladder rules was referred to the management committee. It was decided tfiat the control of all competitions, with the exception of the ladies’ and.men’s cups, be left in the hands of the committee, The playing of star matches on Saturday and Sunday was agreed upon. It was decided that the committee draw a comprehensive set of star rules. The ladder has shown considerable movement recently, and Mr C, Davidson now adorns the top rung on the men’s, while Miss E. Davidson still holds the best position on the ladies’. Only twice have the holders of the stars, Mrs W. Wilson and Mr F. Platt, had to defend the trophies.

A team travelled to Avoca last Sunday and at the end of the day Avoca had.won 9 sets, 74 games; Parakao 6 sets, 17 games.

Personal.

Mrs French and Miss Tims, of Auckland, are spending a holiday with their brother, Mr J. Tims, of Parakao.

Mrs C. Davidson and several members of the familp have now returned to their home at Parakao, from Ngunguru, where they spent a fortnight camping at the beach. Mrs Macmillan, and her son Don, are home again, after touring as far as Thames -with her daughter. Mr Macmillan spent a week holidaying at Enakaka. ONERAHI PERSONAL ITEMS. Mrs E. McLean and family left again for their home in Auckland on Saturday, after a month’s holiday. Bathing, fishing and boating were the order of the days.
