OBITUARY
MBS A. DRAKE. The death occurred suddenly in the Whangarei Hospital this morning, of Mrs Drake, wife of the Rev. A. Drake, Vicar of Ilikuraugi. Mrs Drake, who had been staying at Paihia, suffered a seizure on Friday evening, and lapsed into unconsciousness. Fortunately, Dr. D. Cook was at hand, and everything was done to make Mrs Drake comfortable. She did not gain consciousness, howeve'r, and on Sunday it was deemed neces aary to remove her to the "Whangarei Hospital, to which she was taken by the St. John Ambulance. No change occurred in the patient’s condition, and at 3 o’clock this morning she passed peacefully away. Of a quiet, but kindly and sympathetic disposition, Mrs Drake was beloved by all who knew her, and her death will be deeply regretted by a large circle of friends.
Mr and Mrs Drake came to New Zealand from South Africa 25 years i,go, and during most of the time have been associated with the North. It was with Kaitaia that they felt their greatest link in New Zealand, having spent 10 years there. Before that, Mr and Mrs Drake were stationed at Russell. About three years ago, Mr Drake was appointed vicar of Hikurangi. At that time Mrs Drake revisited South Africa, and was accompanied by her daughter, Mrs Alleyne Holder, of Kaitaia. To Mrs Holder and the bereaved husband sincere sympathy will be extended.
The interment is to take place at Kaitaia.
