ROTORUA CANDIDATES. USEFUL WORK. (Special to “Northern Advocate.”') AUCKLAND, This Day. It was an off morning at Ellerslic tMs morning, trainers having the use of the course proper, on which the joles were 16ft out, ami the No. 2 grass track. Course Proper. Velocitcr trotted round to the halfmile post, and ran homo in 52 2-ssec, shaping nicely for a novice. Caprice and Lady Gainsborough covered three furlongs in 39 3-ssec, the former pleasing the better. Glenromney worked over six furlongs, running the first two in 24 3-ssec and completing the distance in 1.24 4-5. He was under restraint over the last half-mile. No. 2 Grass, Darina-, Hawthorn and Horowhenua inn five furlongs in 1,4 2-5, the last half-mile taking 31 1-Ssee. There was little between them a I the finish. Darrywell and Grant's Opal finished no useful work by running their last half-mile in 56 l-ssec. On the Tan. Chief Emerald and Supremo Ruler strode over six furlongs in 1.2 S 4-5. Tenakoe and Bright Flower registered 1.25 2-5 for a similar distance. United and Wee Musk were timed to run the last half-mile of their work in 53 l-ssec, Solomon took 56 l-ssee for the last four of six furlongs. Ho was going easily throughout. Puriri Park, carrying a light weight, covered seven furlongs in 1.38, the last half-mile taking 55 1-5. Master Brierly and Timorous were timed to run six furlongs in 1.25, doing it comfortably. Bright Flower (Baker) ond Tenakoe (Williams) cleared a couple of pony hurdles attractively.

Horses for Rotorua. P. Gilchrist will leave on Thursday morning for Rotorua with Puriri Park and Glenromney. They will be accompanied by Darma. Riding Engagements.
