CHEERING CROWDS
WELCOME PRINCE GEORGE ARRIVAL AT CAPE TOWN. INITIAL ENGAGEMENTS. (United Press Association— By Blectrij Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received 9 a.m.) CAPE TOWN, This Day. With the seas smooth the liner Carnarvon Castle, with Prince George on board, and accompanied by the Dorchester, arrived at Cape Town half an hour before her time. The city was early astir putting the finishing touches to the decorations and making the principal streets a blaze of colour. The Prince was welcomed on board the liner by the Prime Minister, General Hertzog, the Chief Justice, the President of the Senate, and the Mlayor. • On landing, His Royal Highness was received with prolonged cheers from the huge crowd along the route, by which he was driven to the City Hall. There he received addresses of welcome and fittingly replied, i The Prince paid a tribute to the pioneers who laid the foundations on which this great country was built. , , He inspected a gathering of veterans and drove through the cheering crowds at Westbroke, joining: -Groot Schuur, which has been placed at ; his'disposal. & i The formal proceedings concluded at noon, when the Prince inspected 2000, ex-servicemen. Enthusiastic - scenes | marked his drive to Westbroke, where | he was received 1 by the Governor-; General, the Earl of Clarendon, and ' Lady Clarendon. j - s-The Government has ordered a re-.
