ON THE AIR

RADIO IMITATION. A “broadcasting” station went on thcf air at Paihia last evening for the benefit of those in camp for the ' Waitangi celebrations. The announcer said that the station was located 1 ( just round the corner.” A programme of records was put on, each being duly announced by a voice that was an excellent imitation of a very familiar one. The closing down announcement was made in the usual formula, but it was noticeable that the announcer said ■ they were “broadcasting not from ' Sarangahape Road." The transmission came from the dissection of the P.W.D. encampment, *nd provided quite a bright spot in the evening’s entertainment at Waitangi. Evidently 1 the operator had cleverly utilised his gramophone, an •. electric pick-up, a microphone and a very powerful loud-speaker.
