PONSONBY TEAM. CLEVER YOUNG SIDE. TO VISIT HIKURANGI. (Special to “Northern Advocate.") AUCKLAND, This Day. The Ponsonby senior team, which has shown such brilliant fo*m in the challenge competition, is eagerly looking forward to its trip to meet Hikurangi, Northland’s champion of champions, at Hikurangi on'Saturday. One of the youngest thirteens ever put into the field in the Auckland competitions, this promising team, trained by Mr Prank Delgrosso, is sure to give a good account of itself, after having victory over Auckland Alariet snatched from its grasp in a most spectacular curtainraiser contest at Carlaw Park on Saturday. A fortnight ago it was beaten by the competition winners, Newton, by the margin of only one point —the price of a force-down. The visiting team will bo managed by Air R. Francis (brother of the famous Rugby Union All Black, ‘ ‘Bella Francis), an enthusiastic, trustee and supporter of the club. Other officials who will, make the trip are Messrs E. Smith, L. Mortonsen, C. Baynes (third grade team coach), and possibly Mr Longbottora, the club’s elector. The party, which will leave Auckhint on Friday evening in five motor caraj returning to the city on Sunday, is looking forward to reneAving acquaintance with Air Arthur Cadman (former Ponsonby -forward in association with Mr Lougbottom). Seventeen players will make the journey as follows;—Jones, Scherer, Kay, Bright, L. and B. Riley, Alidgeley, Holland, Fagan, Blood, Grieve, Moran, Brown, Hhtt and Keesing and two others of tluv club. The side will therefore include two Auckland representatives and the international, Hutt, now back to his best form.
