(Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day. Beautiful weather prevailed this morning for .training at Ellerslic, and, iu view of the meeting of the Pakuranga Hunt at Ellerslic on Saturday, there was more galloping than, usual. No, 1 grass, was available, the going being good, though a little on the dead side. Several useful efforts were recorded, the best being those of Kiltowyn, King March, Deputy Ruler and Hushing. *
1 No. 1 Grass. Mahkill and the Surveyor—Te Moli gelding in G. Holland’s stable were several lengths in front of Love Story after traversing six furlongs in 1,22 3-5, the first three being eovered In 40 4-ssec, The Surveyor gelding, who will be having his first race on Saturday, was slightly in front of Mahkill at the finish, and shaped nicely for a novice. Glenroinney was given an easy six furlongs, running the distance in 1.28 3- This three-year-old is steadily improving, and will be well forward for the spring meeting. My Money and Gay Brouey jumped off at the five-furlong post, running the first two in 27see, and completing the gallop in 1.7 1-5. . Both worked wcii, though My Money, on the outside impressed the better. Manawhenua and Arohamai afte-r go. ing away slowly from the five furlong post ran the last half mile iii 54 l-osec. Arohamai displayed, speed, but Mauawhenua was bolding her comfortably at the finish. Supreme Ruler was sent five furlongs, being assisted over the latter stages by Chief Emerald. He was timed to j’run the distance in I.fi 3-5. Dark Marble and Wee Pat beat Patntahi easily at the end of seven furlongs which occupied 1.35 4-5. Woo Pat pleased. A good effort was registered over five furlongs by Deputy Ruler, who beat Caliente by a couple of lengths, with Alp inns a similar distance away in 1.5 4- Deputy Ruler did his work in good style and Caliente was also staying on nicely at the finish. The .TolHcoe Handicap candidates, King March and Gay Cockade, completed a round in 1.5(1, the last six furlongs taking 1.20 4-5, and the final half-mile 53 4-ssec. Gay Cockade was in front early, but King March, who was on the extreme outside all the way, was loss than a length behind at the finish. Lord Val did strong work over a round, running the distance in 2.22 2-5. He had no pace on till the last three furlongs, which he covered in 39 3-ssec. United was easily beaten by Hushing at the end of six furlongs. They cover, ed the first three in 40 2-sscc, and the full distance in 1.21 2-5, though Hushing could have done much better. From a standing start, and carrying a light hoy, Kiltowyn ran his first three furlongs in 38 2-ssec, and completed six furlongs in 1,18 2-5. fie finished on well and should run a great race in the Auckland Handicap at Ellerslie on Snfnrday. The hunters, Zane Grey, Ironic, Grant’s Opal and General Lu, did strong work over a mile and a quarter, being timed to run the final round in 2.0. General Lu broke down along the hack, and Zane Grey and Tronic were to* gether, several lengths in front of Grant’s Opal at the finish. Tronic pleased most.
Two-Year-Old Track. Kelly, a gelding by Kilbroney—Toy Queen, mid the Gay Shield —Lady Kerman eolt, sprinted two furlongs in 27 3-fisee. •Sporting Song, Led Flame, a filly by Chief Rnlei —Very Hot, and Tray Hit were in that order at the end of a similar task in 27 2-osee. Alpimis Amiss. Alpinns, who has been suffering witii kidney trouble recently, lias not fully recovered, and did not gallop as well as usual this morning. He is unlikely to start on Saturday.
