NEW RECORD ESTABLISHED. OVER 75,000 REGISTERED. (Per Press Association.—Copyright.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Official figures show that there were 75,034 men on the unemployment register at July 8, an increase of 2.116 compared with the figures at June 10. Of these, 5511 were ineligible for relief for various reasons, leaving 60,523 men a charge on the board’s funds. Of these, 48,704 were engaged under No. 5 Scheme, 10,711 on farm schemes, 3939 were in camps, 1850 on subsidised employment by the .Public Works Department, 3618 in gold prospecting, and 87 in subsidised employment in various industries. Of these 69,523 men, it is estimated that at least 37,500 were engaged on work of a definite reproductive and developmental nature in connection with the Dominion’s '■ primary industries.
