RODNEY DAIRY COMPANY

ANNUAL MEETING BIG GROWTH OP OUTPUT. CAPITAL INCREASED. The annual meeting of the Rodney Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., was held at Warkworth yesterday. The annual report was adopted. The secretary stated that the percentage increase of the output during the past year, 31 per cent, was greater than that of any other county in the North. The chairman, Mr A. W. Wyllie, in his address, stated that about 25 per t per cent of the output had been sold bn consignment, the remainder being sold.f.o.b. The f.o.b. sales had resulted better than consignment sales. Economies in the factory by installing a better power plant and other imporvements had ' saved the company £6OO during the past season. With a steadily increasing output, the production costs per ton had been steadily reduced. The company is making a payment of 13d per lb on.all butterfat supplied from November 1 to May 31, and a dividend of 4 per cent on all capital paid up to May 31 is to be paid. The total average payment for all grades over the whole season will be 9£d per lb butterfat.

Owing to the company’s increasing output, it was resolved to increase the capital by £IO,OOO, Messrs W. Hamilton, S, Morrison, and W, G. Colville were elected to the directorate, Messrs Hamilton and Morrison being retiring directors.

Mr L. Beresford won the senior trophy for cream grading with an average of 93.16 points, Mr J. Morrison winning the junior trophy with an average of 93.12 points. Mr W. Grounds, a member of the Dairy Produce Board, addressed the meeting on the board’s work. It was decided to support a proposal sponsored by the Maungaturoto Women’s Institute, by which each supplier will contribute one pound of butter to the New Zealand Federation of Women’s Institutes to be distributed among the institutes in England, with a view to advertising Dominion butter more widely.
