MONETARY SYSTEM

ADDRESS BY MR RUSHWORTH. (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) WELLINGTON, This Day. A plea for a saner monetary system for the Dominion was made by Mr H. M. Rushworth, M.P., in an address to an audience of about 1500 in the Town Hall last evening. The speaker made a strong appeal for a trial being given to the Douglas social credit system, which lie said had more adherents than ever. .President Roosevelt, he said, had given the world a breathing space before the question of a world monetary system had to be decided, but it would bo folly for people to allow the control of money to pass out of their own hands, For this reason, the Central Bank Bill should be prevented from passing into law. There was nothing to prevent New Zealand from arranging her own monetary system on the basis of meat, wool, butter and cheese as wealth. There had been an awakening of conscience in New Zealand he said, and nothing could stop the tide which was flowing.
