PROHIBITION REPEAL

FAVOURED BY SOUTHERNERS. ALABAMA AND ARKANSAS. (Received 1 p.m.) WASHINGTON, July 19. Approximate figures today indicated that Alabama favours prohibition repeal by a two-to-one majority, and Arkansas by three to two.

They are the first States of the historically "dry" South to vote, bringing the number of repeal-desiring States to 18. The prohibitionists have yet to score their first victozy. Thir-ty-six States are needed for national ratification of the Congress repeal action.
