VISITING- RUGBY TEAM. EAST MATCH OC TOUR. CAATCK BULi V C 0 L I.V, G K DO MIX A AT. (Per Press Association.—Copyright.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. In the last mat eh of its tour, the Australian University Rugby team was beaten by Canterbury College yesterday afternoon by U points to nil. The match was played in atrocious weather, with wind, rain and sleet, on a sodden and slippery ground. The visitors were quite unable to adapt themselves to the conditions, and only four times in the match did they reach Canterbury’s -d. In the second spell, with the help of the strong wind, the visitors crossed the half-way only twice.

The Canterbury College forwards played a lively game and bustled the Australian backs continuously.

On the Australian side, Westfield, at full-back, gave a display equal to the best he has shown ou the tour, and but for Ins skilful handling of the sodden ball and his deadly tackling the Canterbury score would have been much larger. I’earson, at half, was another outstanding Australian. He faced the charging forwards with admirable courage, and Ills tackling was sound.

All Canterbury’s score was made in the lirst spell, when the side played with the wind. The first try came at the end of a good passing run by the backs, Hayman scoring in the corner. Loveridgo failed to goal.

Tlio next try was Loveridge’s, wlion Ik; Ik;at Westfield in a race tor the ball, which had been kicked over the line in a dribbling rush. Loveridge goaded. The third try was scored by Hayman from an opening made by Parsons. Loveridge failed at goal, and the game ended: Canterbury 11 Australia U
