LADIES’ TITLE

The Women’s Wellington provincial golf championship tournament was opened yesterday in wet, squally weather, hut remarkably good scores were returned.
Miss .T. Wilson, the Auckland champion, headed the list of those who qualified, her scores for the two rounds being So and 87, a total of- ,172. Next were Miss Hanson (Miramar), 178,' and Miss Barnes Graham (Gisborne), 17n.
Mrs Monkman and Miss Chrystal, .18(1, just failed to qualify. They head the list of the 1(1 to play off for the Heretnunga trophy. Miss .1. Wilson (Auckland) won the first medal handicap with 7(1, and Miss M. Peacock won the junior division. Miss Robinson won the second medal
handicap. The teams’ match was won by Auckland, with a total of Christchurch being second with 3G4,
Miss Betty Rutherford (Canterbury) won the trophy for the best gross score in a qualifying round.
