GENEVA RUPTURE

DISARMAMENT PHASES PRANCJO-GERMAN VARIANCE, BRITISH PLAN JEOPARDISED. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received 9 a.m.) LONDON, May 1. The Geneva correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph’’ says the clash between France’ and Germany at the Disarmament Conference Ims produced a .situation of the utmost gravity. Unless something can be done quickly, the hope of a convention on the basis of the British plan must bo abandoned. A meeting between Captain R. A. Eden, British Foreign Under-Secretary, Herr Nadolny (Germany), and Mr Arthur Henderson at the week-end did not persuade the Germans to give way on any major point.

There was a long discussion upon the details of the British plan, but the German amendments made real progress impossible. The conference adjourned till Wednesday.
