WAGES AND SALARIES UNPAID
(Special, to “Northern Advocate.”)
WAII-11, This Day
With reference to the impasse which has now existed for some weeks owing to the failure of the Waihi Hospital Board to approve for payment hospital accounts, salaries and wages, the chairman, Colonel .Towsey, stated that, provided lie was re-elected, he would .convene a. special meeting of the new board on Thursday next for the purpose of appointing a new matron and passing accounts. That was the earliest possible moment he could comply with the ordinary procedure observed by public bodies. Colonel JoAVsey said that the action of the three members a\ t lio had refrained from attending the last three meetings established a dangerous precedent affecting the principle of majority rule. If permitted to continue, it would reduce the transaction of public business to a condition of chaos.
