MUNICH I AL ELECTIONS. LIST OP CANDIDATES. INSTRUCTIONS TO VOTERS. Following a short, hut interesting campaign, tho municipal elections will bo hold' tomorrow, whon voting will commence at D <1.111., in the polling booths at'the Town Hall, Parochial Hall, Air Harkncss’ shop at the corner of Alaunu and Kanika Roads, and tho chairman’s room at the hospital. All who are on the municipal roll are eligible to vote for the Mayoralty, the Borough Council, and the vacant positions on the Harbour and Hospital Boards.

At all elections there is generally a fair percentage of invalid votes, and the following tips are given, to be of assistance to electors. A vote is valid so long as not more than the number of candidates required is voted for. For example, if nine councillors are required, any vote for nine, or,any loss number, is valid.

The method of voting is by crossing out the name of the candidate, or candidates, for whom the elector does not desire to vote. Four separate ballot papers will be handed to each elector. A T otes*may be recorded from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

There is no machinery for sick or absentee voters, and the only method hv which a vote can be recorded is by appearance at one ol the polling booths.

Mr A. 1). .Tack, tlio chief returning officer, hopes to have the results of the mayoral election complete by 7,T»0 p.m., and the others in the following order: —Borough Council, Hospital Board, and Harbour Board. Progress results will be displayed outside the Town Hall.

James Donaldson (sitting councillor). James Ernest Henderson. James Edmund Holmes (sitting councillor). Herbert Norman James. Si, Clair Jonnneanx (silling councillor). Thomas Mitchell. George Haymes Morrish (sitting councillor), George Singer Black Morrison. John Wilmot Parkin.

Hospital Board

Only three of the following nominees for the Hospital Hoard are to be elected; — •Tames Oillespie Barclay. ( Viva Donaldson (sitting member). Frank Higginson (sitting member). George Haymes Morrish. William Jones (sitting member).

Harbour Board. There are only two vacancies on the Harbour Board, for which the following have been nominated: — 1 Robert Harold Allen. Thomas Ellis. James Edmund Holmes (sitting member). Peter Robertson Gardner (sitting member). DARGAVILLE MAYORAL qONTEST. KEEN INTEREST ASSURED. (Special to "Northern Advocate.”) DARGAVILLE, This Day. Keen interest is being taken in the municipal election, chiefly centring in the Mayoral contest between the Mayor, F. A. Jones, who has been in office for eight years, and the chairman of the legal and finance committee of the expiring council, Mr. E. Olondon Gould. In their respective capacities both have admittedly rendered signal service in the borough. The new Mayor will commence the year with a credit of £027, as compared will) a debit last year of £lo.‘>l. This is the first occasion in (Tie past eight years that the council lias been so fo r t unatc ly placed.
