WHAU VALLEY GOLF CLUB

[.INKS OFFICIALLY OPENED,

The new golf links at Whan Valley were officially opened, for play this afternoon. The weather was ideal and the large number of golfers who attended found conditions very pleasant. There was a strong representation of other district clubs, and the picturesquely situated club-house was the centre of an animated scene.

In welcoming visitors, the president Mr Allan Martin, asked them not to expoet too much, ns the club had laboured under several difficulties, chief ■of which had 'boon the inability to secure a good mower to put the links in tip-top order before the season opened.

Mr ’Martin then drove the first ball well up the fairway and play commenced.

During the afternoon, twenty sots of mixed foursomes wore played.
