BIG BILL FOR WATER

ONE BOROUGH TO SUE ANOTHER. (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day. Inquiring into the reason for a sudden rise in its water account from the City Council, the Mt. Eden Borough' Council discovered recently that its neighbour, the Mt. Roskill Road Board, had been obtaining water from the Mt. "Eden supply. The waterworks foreman of the Mt. Eden Borough Council reported to last night’s meeting that he had cut and capped the main giving supply to Mt. Roskill, and the Mayor, Mr. T. McNab, stated that the council’s solicitors had been instructed to sue for £I9OO, of which £9OO was previously outstanding, and £IOOO for the water taken without permission.

The main from which the Mt. Roskill Road Board had obtained the Avat.br was, the Mayor explained, the one through which the board was supplied when Mt. Roskill used to obtain part of its water supply through Mt. Eden. The Mt. Roskill Board had since, made an agreement with Oijehunga for a supply of water, but when the Onehunga supply broke down temporarily the Mt. Roskill Board turned on the Mt. Eden main again.
