AUSTRALIAN AMENDMENTS. CONTROL OF FOREIGN SHIPPING. •(Received 1() a.m.) . CANBERRA, This Day. Amending navigation legislation' is to be introduced into the ' Federal Parliament shortly which will control the operations of the present Matson Line service between Auckland, Sydney and Melbourne, complaints of which have boon made by a committee of members of- Parliament, of the four States. It is further claimed that an amendment of the Navigation Act will do much to re-establish trade between Australia and New Zealand. The same members are seeking the restoration of the former passenger service from Sydney to Hobart, via Auckland, Wellington, the Bluff and Hobart, the cessation of which seriously affected the tourist traffic.
