NEW WINDSCREEN
A SATISFACTORY TRIAL
(■Special to "Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day,
After working almost continuously in making, housing, fixing and driving tho now rotating windscreen I 'which has been attached to the “Fred j 11. Stewart Enterprise,” a trial wgs I made this morning at Mr H. Npttrass’ workshop, Stanley Street, in the presence of a number of interested onlookers, including a press ■ representative. Satisfaction was expressed, with the manner in which .the screen, when dashed with volumes lof water, was kept clear by centrifu- [ gaj force combined with specially designed wipers. While rotating the glass gives clear vision and does not irritate or affect the driver. By experimenting, the mechanics have proved that for this class of screen a special -material employed for, wiping gives a better result than rubber. It had moon intended to ship'/the car to Awauui today, but it was ,'de-' termined to spend more time in completing details in order to ensure against any possible defect for' high-: speed running. Accordingly, the ear will be shipped to Awanui next - Saturday. This- will give the mechanical staff sufficient time to complete the device and carry out exhaustive tests,' and. incidentally to enjoy a few hours’ sleep, which they have denied themselves for several nights: '
