Union yesterday criticism of the tactics of arranging the itinerary of Rugby tours by New Zealand teams in Australia so as to make the match against New South Wales at Sydney the opening engagement, wits made by Mr. N. L. McKenzie, Hawke’s Bay. He said an easier game should be arranged for the commencement of the tour. “The great difficulty with Australian tours in the past,’’ said Mr. Doan, “has been the question of finance. Now that the Australian’s financial position is better I think they should review the position.” It was decided to leave the matter to the incoming management committee in an endeavour to secure a more satisfactory arrangement. North Auckland at Whangarei. The North v. South Island match will be,played at Christchurch on June 4. •It was decided that injured players could be replaced if both captains agreed. The conference also decided that teams must not leave the field at halftime without the permission of the referee. The New Zealand Referees’ Association is to be instructed that Rule 34 relating to foul play should be strictly enforced. The recommendation was made to unions that the appointment of. referees for inter-provincial matches should be made by the home union. It was decided again to grant .£750 for the supply of footballs to primary 1 schools. '
The recommendation was passed to the Management Committee that this year's North Auckland v. Smith Island match should be played on a date other than dime
