After, a. lapse of several weeks, another Case of diphtheria was admitted to the Whangarei District Hospital today. It was a child from the Convent School, of which several of the first patients were pupils.

The directors of the Bank of Adelaide, according to a cable message received yesterday by the Wellington Stock Exchange Association, have declared a dividend of 4 per cent Jper annum on paid-up capital for the half-year ended March 28. The dividend is payable on May 4.

The Whangarei Primary School cricketers have been downed convincingly in both their meetings with Whau Valley. In the first match, Whangarei made 23 and 11, Whau Valley replying with 47. The return match was also won by an innings, Whan Valley making 35, and Wliangarei 20 and 12. Those responsible for coaching and organising at the Whau Valley School are deserving of congratulation. Slight concussion and shock were received by Mrs Lily Donaldson, aged 52, of Morrow Street, Newmarket, as a result of being struck, by ai traniear in Newmarket at about 4.30 yesterday afternoon. Airs Donaldson had just alighted from a tramcjvr, and slipped off the safety zone, falling in front of the tram, which struck her. She was taken to. the Auckland Hospital by the St. John Ambulance. Her condition last evening was not serious.

One of the few ratepayers In the Whangarei county who has no road access is Mr Jas. D. McKenzie, of Takahiwai. In a. letter to the County Council yesterday he wrote: “My application for a road, has been ‘noted.’ 1 would like your definition .of ‘noted’ in this ease, as nothing seems to have been done. I suggest that your engineer should call on me, but lie had better .bring a slasher, and' • a guide to show him the way; . . I .1 have an outlet by water, but for this I, do not pay rates.” The council instructed Mr Norris to visit.
