OPUAWHANGA
(From Our Own Correspondent.) TENNIS CLUB. The opening of the tennis court took place at the courts oil Monday. There was an attendance of about 80 from the surrounding district. Players were present from Wiiananakr, Whakapara, Otonga and Kaimakau. Tho president, in a few words, welcomed all, and, in thanking those who had helped to raise funds to bring the double courts up to tho standard they are now in, expressed tbe hope that the young players would continue to play and take pride in their grounds, which were now equal to any clay courts in the locality. Those present from a distance were greatly surprised at ’ the amount of work done during the last year, and were loud in their praise of tho new road and the flower gardens. Lunch and afternoon tea were served by the ladies, ami play went on continuously until after 5 o’clock. An enjoyable dance was held in the evening.
