The totalisator investments were £31,049, compared with £40,599 last year, the total for the meeting being £76,916, against £101,178 last year. The weather was fine, though dull, for training operations at Ellerslie this morning. A very cold wind-inade matters rather unpleasant. No. 2 grass track was open for fast work, and as a result of the improvement in the weather, the going was better than usual. The hurdle and steeplechase courses were also open.

Gold Money was the first out, running six furlongs in 1.27 4-5. She carried a light weight and was never asked to do her best.

■Speedfast strode over a similar distance in 1.29 4-5;

Grand Spirit completed a five-furlong task in 1.7 3-5. Stimulant bringing her home over the last three furlongs, which occupied 41 l-ssee.

Catoma, with a lot the worse of the weight, was holding Wild Country at the end of a round, which took 1.48 2-5, the final six furlongs occupying 1.23 1-5.

Flying Prince finished well in front of) United and Sub-Editor, at the conclusion of seven furlongs, run in 1.47, the last six furlongs taking 1.22 3-5. Sir Val, going easily, ran half a mile hi 5S 4-ssee.

Taneriri, Tetrarchate and Full Measure .jumped away at the five furlong post, running tho first two furlongs in 25 4-ssec, and the full distance in 1.6, Taneriri was in front at the finish, but the other pair could have done better.
