SECESSION GESTURE
INDIAN MALCONTENTS
PASSAGES CANCELLED
WAY CLEAR FOR CO-OPERATORS.
(British Official Wireless.) (Received 9 a.m.) RUGBY, August 13
Mr Gandhi said that although the Congress had decided not to take part in tlie Round-Table Conference, there was no intention of resuming civil disobedience at once, and that the Delhi settlement need not necessarily be considered cancelled.
Mr Gandhi and his colleagues have cancelled their passages to London.
The “Calcutta Statesman” says: “Wo believe that there will be general relief throughout India that the Congress, which stands for secession from the Empire, is definitely to have no part in the conference. The way is now clear for the co-operatore. The sooner a responsible Federal India comes into being and deals with this menace to' society the better. There Avill be an immediate sharp division into two camps.”
