OBITUARY
MR. W. J. BRAY
(Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day.
The death occurred at his home in St. George’s' Bay, Parnell. Auckland, on Thursday, of Mr. William John Bray, in his 70th year.
Mr. Bray was born at Onehunga and was well-known as a hotelkeeper in Auckland, Whangarei, Mangonui, Thames and Gisborne. For a few years before the War he was at the Esplanade Hotel, Devonport. During the war he retired, but later resumed business at Gisborne, finally retiring about two years ago and returning to Auckland. He was a life member and at one time president of the Devonport Orphan’s Club, and was one of the original members of the Onehunga Foresters Lodge, He is survived by his wife, one son, Mr. J. G. Bray, of Gisborne, and two daughters, Mesdames 0. S. Burt, of Gisborne, and E. Campbell, of Auckland.
MR. W. S. LARKIN
(Special' to “Northern Advocate.”) WELLINGTON, This Day. Mr. Walter S. Larkin, for 18, years general manager of Shetland and Co., Wellington, wholesale druggists, died suddenly at his home yesterday after-
noon. Mr.. Larkin, who. was born in Auckland 59 years ago, entered the service of the firm as a boy and rose to the position of general manager. He re-, tired six months ago. During the past few days Mr. Larkin had not been in good health, but ‘was in town on Friday afternoon.
As a young man, Mr. Larkin was a well-known Rugby player, and an excellent sprint runner. He was an old member of the Wellington Commercial Travellers ’ Club and was a member of the Board of Trustees. He leaves a widow, two sons, and two daughters.
