ALL ABOARD RESCUED,

(Received 10 a.m.) SHANGHAI, August 13. The air mail plane from Shanghai, on its arrival at Hangkow, nose-dived and broke a propeller while seeking the landing stage. The crew and passengers were rescued.

ARRIVAL AT KAGOSHIMA.

(Received 9 a.m.) SHANGHAI, August 13. Mr F, C. Chichester hopped off for Kagoshima, Japan, at 9.15 a.m. today, and arrived there at 7 p.m, SCEPTICAL AUTHORITIES.

(Received 10.30 a.m.) TOKIO, August 13. Because ho required nearly 10 hours to make the flight from Shanghai to Kagoshima, Japan, which ordinarily takes 5 hours, the local authorities are questioning Mr Chichester, to determine whether he landed en route.

While returning to the Te Rapa aerodrome from a short flight over the town about 5 p.m. yesterday, Mr S. J.' Blackmore, had to make a forced landing owing to the failure of the engine in his De Soutter monoplane. He had. with him as a passenger Mr W. McKenzie, of Te Awamutu,

Prom a fairly high altitude the pilot brought the ’plane clown in a sloping paddock near the crest of a rise at Forest Lake. It made a, run of 40 yards, crashed through a gorse hedge and wire fence, and in avoiding a house the under-carriage was carried away by a stump. No damage was done to the fabric or windscreen and the occupants scarcely felt the bump. Mr Blackmore is a skilful pilot.
