GENTLEMEN V. PLAYERS.
INCONCLUSIVE RESULT. (Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, June 13. The Gentlemen, in their first innings against the Players, scored 205 (Wellard 5 for 45), The Players declared their second innings closed when three wickets were down for 135. The Gentlemen in their second innings scored 94 for 3 wickets. The match was drawn, COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP. EASY WIN EOR KENT. Rain interfered with county cricket throughout the country. Worcester, in their first innings against Middlesex, scored 194 (Peebles 5 for 68), and declared their second innings with five down for 202 (Nichol 116, Gibbons 53). Middlesex’s first innings yielded 250 (Hearne 58 —Foot 5 for 66), Middlesex won on the first innings. Kent, against Northants, scored 331 (Woolley 168—Matthews 5 for 79), Northants scored 134 (Freeman 6 for 68) and 79 (Freeman 6 for 26, Watt 4 for 44), Kent won by an innings and 118 runs. Sussex, batting first against Glamorgan, declared with 220 on for 9 wickets (Cook 67), and in their second innings lost 1 wicket for 36, Glamorgan scored 141 (Wensley 5 for 45). Sussex Avon oh the first innings, Nottingham in the first innings scored 295 (Carr 75), and in the second declared Avith a score of 246 for four (Keeton 100 not out, Carr 07) Essex scored 228 (Pearce 78) and 211 (Cutmore 53—Staples 5 for 47), Notts won by 112 runs. Lancashire in their first innings against Hampshire scored 157 for four wickets (Tddon 51 not out). Hampshire scored 112 (li. Tyldesley 7 for 37). Lancashire won on the first innings. Cambridge, against Leicester, scored 126 (Geary 7 for 31), and 191 (Hunan 67 —Gearly 7 for 37). Leicester’s first innings score Avas 203 (BroAvne 7 for j 59), and in the second they scored {155 for 5. Leicester Avon by five Avickets.
