1 A record of nine years of service la public, life in Napier is held by Mr C. O. Morse, who has announced his retirement from all public activity, owing to pressure of private business. ?vlr Morse has s c ived on the Hawke’s Bay HospitaFßoard for nine years, and he had been chairman for the past three years. He has also been a member of the Napier Technical College Board, the Parke Island Joint Committee, the Social Service Committee and the Napier Unemployment Committee.

Since the earthquake) Mr Morse has been, chairman of the Citizens’ Control Committee. Other duties which ho has assumed since the earthquake are the chairmanship of the Napier Relief Committee and the Town-planning Committee.
