CAUGHT RED-HANDED
BURGLAR WITH EXPLOSIVES. ALARM BRINGS POLICE. (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. Warned, by a burglar alarm connected with the house of the caretaker in the Eomuera Bowling Club’s pavilion, where there have been previous thefts, the jioliee at 1.50 o’clock this morning were notified that something untoward was happening. Twelve minutes afterwards two police officers in cars arrived on the scene. They discovered a man crouching behind a counter with a chisel, two detonators and a plug of gelignite. As a consequence, Janies Burke, aged 36 years, a labourer, appeared at the Magistrate’s Court this morning on chrirgcs of being a rogue and a vagabond, with being found on enclosed premises, and also with having housebreaking implements in his possession. He was remanded, on the application of the police, until April 13.
