ROWING
NELSON DEFEATED. (Per Press Association. —Copyright.) WESTPORT, This Day. . Three rowing races between the Nelson and Kawatiri Clubs took place on the Buller River this morning, Kawatiri winning two and Nelson the third. The. Gothard Cup was won by Croddoek’s crew, which defeated the Nelson crew, stroked by James, by three lengths. C. E. Owen's crew (Kawatiri) won the maiden race for the Harley Cup from W. Ricketts (Nelson) by a similar margin. The junior fours for' Mr B. B. Jones’ Cup was won by the Nelson crew, stroked by Marshall, from the Kawatiri crew,' stroked by Straehan, by three lengths. The river was in beautiful order after the floods.
