EASTER CRUISE
WHANGAREI SQUADRON ABROAD. Eight boats participated in the Easter cruise of the Whangarei Cruising Club. Commodore W. Reynolds led the way on Thursday afternoon, and the boats followed to Kawau in twos and threes. Some broke the voyage at Little Omaha, while others proceeded direct to Kawau, the destination. A smaller number of Auckland craft than usual were at Kawau, no less than 38 having taken part in the race to Coromandel, Among the visitors was the 40 foot 1 launch Ruth, recently landed in Auckland by her owner, who has left Ade- 1 laide to reside in Auckland. 1
Making the island their headquarters, the Whangarei boats cruised according to individual inclinations, Auckland was visited by a few, and others made for Waiwcra and Warkworth.
Although seas were rather heavy at times all the boats had a comparatively fair run. The weather brightened up for the week-end and loss rain fell at Ivawau than in Whangarei.
Returning yesterday, the Kopuru, Whati and September Morn anchored off Sail Rock and the Hen and Chicks for fishing. All boats were in harbour by midnight. The following launch owners participated in the cruise.—Messrs W. and F. Reynolds, P. J. Tobin, T. Carmichael, A. R. Pickmere, E. Reed, H. .1. Prcebe, S. Weston and A. Dudley. The 26-footer Calypso (Mr R. Baker) sailed with the others to Little Omaha.
