GREAT DINNER AT THE PALACE

A UNIQUE GATHERING,

(Received 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, October 3rd,

Tlioir Majesties gave a dinner to the Imperial Conference delegates at Buckingham Palace. The King and Queen received 120 guests—the Empire family party —in the music room in addition to the Dominion Premiers and chief delegates, including Mr and Mrs Scullin, Mr and Mrs Moloney, Mr and Mrs Brennan, Mr and Mrs Forbes, Sir Thomas and Lady Sidey. There was a distinguished company of Britishers, including Mr Eamsay Mas Donald, Miss Ishbel MaeD6uald7 Mr and Mrs Baldwin, Mr Lloyd George and Navy, Army and Air Force representatives. The guests passed through the blue drawing room to the great ballroom, where they had dinner, Masses of gold chrysanthemums decorated the table, and the soft lights of eandlelabra shone on magnificent gold plate. The King and Queen sat opposite each other in the middle of a long dumb-bell table. The Prince of Wales, the Duke of York, Princess Mary, the Earl of Harewood, the Duke of Connaught and Prince and Princess Arthur of Connaught intermingled with the Dominion guests.

The Queen -wore a gown of sapphire blue and silver pailettc, a diamond tiara and a collar which included the Kohiuor diamond and lesser stars of Africa. -

A string Hand played throughout dinner. Afterwards pipers 'from the band of the Scots Guards played.

This is the first occasion that Dominion delegates, besides Premiers, have been honoured by Their Majesties at dinner.
