ERUPTION OF MUD

RESULT OF GAS BLOW-OUT. RESIDENTS STARTLED. (Per Press Association. —Copyriglit.) HAMILTON, This Day. A sharp report and rumblings, suggestive of an earthquake', startled Wahnata Valley residents yesterday. Later it was found that three or four acres around the mud springs on Mr Savage’s property were covered to a depth of ten feet with mud eruption through a gas blow-out. It is estimated that nearly one million tons of mud were thrown up, the eruption overflowing for a quarter of a mile down the hillside. These springs have always interested oil men, as the presence of gas is bcliovd to be associated with the existence of oil.
