ARCHBISHOP BANS PRESS. (Received 1.8 p.m.) MALTA, May (1. The Archbishop has issued a circular declaring that for reasons known to anybody with a spark of Christian sentiment, lie condemns the newspapers “Malta Chronicle” and “Txvcmx” (meaning the sun), which is l.ovd Strickland’s paper, and prohibits under the penalty of mortal sin their reading or sale. If they continue publication in the same tenor hi* will inflict canonical penalties on the proprietors, editors and associates.
