BENEFICENT CHOICE
WIRELESS FOR THE BLIND, BRIDE’S ELECT DECISION. (Received 1.18 p.m.) LONDON, May 5. A charming story, ■which, has captured the imagination of the newspapers, was recorded today. A Gloucester girl, betrothed to a wealthy young business man, had the choice of rich furs or sparkling jewels as a present. She declined all and sail she would be happy if every blind man, woman and child in Gloucestershire could be provided with a wireless set. The news was revealed when a young man walked into the National Institute for the Blind and asked the cost of providing and maintaining these sets for ever. . The staggered officials worked out the cost and told him in the .neighbourhood of £IO,OOO. .“Very well, they shall have it,” feaid the man, who declined to give his name. “It isn't my gift, but a present from my future wife.” He handed over the cheque.
