RUGBY UNION

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. The Management Committee of the Whangarei Rugby Union met last evening, Mr C. F. Collins presiding. A deputation was received from the St. John Ambulance Brigade, and several matters settled. It was decided that in case, of ambulance men incurring expense in going to a match, the union pay the amount, provided there is no other means of. attending ■the fixture. The matter of school football was left to the Public Schools’ Union.

Mr A. Steele reported that the Hikurangi Club was willing to forego the points gained in the game in which Hora Hera seniors defaulted.

The Whangarei High. School boys were thanked for the splendid manner in which they cleared the ground at Kensington Park. The Referees ’ Association was granted the sum of £4 for benzine coupons and- it was decided that, if possible, a detailed account of last year’s expenses be tendered. Mr E. P. No nominations wore received from the Wanganui .and King Country Unions, while those of the East Coast Union arrived too late to be considered. It is, however, the intention, of the selectors to take them into account on the occasion of the New Zealand Probables v. Possibles match. The four emergencies for ,the North Island trial will be given an opportunity to prove their claims in the second spell of the local game.
