ORCHESTRAL CONCERT
It is some years since the Whangarei Orchestral Society has included "Gilbert and Sullivan” music in the concert programmes. As repeated requests have been received, an operatic selection from "The Pirates of Penzance” will be played at the concert next Wednesday. There is certainly a sparkle about the "Gilbert and Sullivan” music that makes it ever popular, Another pleasing item will be a delightful series of old English dances from "Henry VIII.” suite. The opening overture, Beethoven's famous "Egmont,” is one of- the finest overtures in the Society's repertoire. It has a stately introduction followed by a movement which works up with vigour to a brilliant finale. The assisting artists are Miss Dorothy Griffiths, L.T.C.L., dramatic ami humorous recitals, and Mr George Lawson, tenor. One of the most attractive programmes yet presented. Don’t miss it. Seats mav be reserved at-Blanshard's. ffOS
