MULTIPLE MURDERER

DUSSELDORF NIGHTMARE

“RIPPER” WILL SURRENDER

MUST HAVE THIRTY VICTIMS.

(United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received 8.30 a.m.) BERLIN, November 12. According to report from Dussel- , dorf, Baron von Zigesa, Chief of PoI lice in the city, declares; “I cannot i sleep at night. I awake from a nighti mare in which I think I am Jack the Ripper in the act of committing a horrible murder.” Baron Zigesa-’s state of mind is characteristic of the panic-stricken city. Beneath its outward calm Dusseldorf is in a frenzy of hysterical terror. If a child is 10 minutes lato the mother telephones the overworked police, imploring them to send out a search party. Newspaper offices are besieged all day by people who think they have clues. Hundreds of sinister rumours are current that the bodies of children and young women have been found. Half-demented men gifve themselves up to the police, accusing themselves of being the Ripper, but they are always completely innocent. Meantime the Ripper, with brazen love for sensation, which is the main trait of his mania, proclaims in a second letter to the newspapers that he will surrender to the polite when his victims number 30. Today the police began digging in the held indicated in the Ripper’s map. They did not find a body, but located a number of articles which are considered important.
