SCOTS COLLEGE SOLD.

PURCHASED FOR TRAINEES.

(Per Pres« Association.—Copyright.)

WELLINGTON, This Day,

Scots College at Miramar, which was only opened in 1920, has been sold by the Presbyterian Assembly to the Education Department, and notice given to the parents that, it will close :.t the end of the year.

! The sale emphasises, once more, the j difficulties lacing private schools in New Zealand, in marked contrast with those of Australia. The Assembly will srill keep its girls' school going. The Education Department intends to use the property, which is 17 acres in extent, as a Teachers’ Training College and Hostel, and will also build a primary school. It is at present spending £ISOO yearly on sending trainees away owing to insufficient accommodation.
