A very full discussion, in 'committee, took place at yesterday’s meeting of the Lominiou executive of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union as to whether or not any Dominion president of the union should be a Member of Parliament, Members wore almost, unanimous in stating that the liberty of the president as a private citizen would be interfered with if such a proposal became. part of the union’s constitution, and that the needs Of the union would be better served if the Dominion president, who ever he might, be, were also an elected Member of Parliament,.
Eventually, a resolution, that no president of the Farmers 1 Union should bo a Member of Parliament was ■with-, drawn and a resolution expressing continued confidence in the present presi- 1 dent, ■Mr W. ,T. Poison, was carried unanimously.
