Forty-nine owners secured a share of the prize money at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Grand National meeting. Mr T. Wilson headed the list with £1470, followed by Messrs H. L'. Bradnoy and F. Wood, £840; V. Riddiford. £575; P. T. Hogan, £500; R. W. King, £415; C. F. Vallancc, £375; G. Gould, £350; F. Williamson, £350; F. F. Newman £320; W. T. Hazlett, £310; V. F. Johnston, £280; W. H. Ballinger, £280; R. J. MacDonald, £275; L. G. Hazleft, £275; C. Matthews, £200; W. F. Parkinson, £250; R. Waller, £225; D. P. Wib son, £210; G. L. Rutherford, £2lO, and thirty smaller amounts.

Twenty trainers turned out winners at the Grand National meeting. E. C. Syme, R. W. King, T. H. Gillett and \V. G. Hobbs each produced two, while those witli one winner only wore Mrs A. W. McDonald; Messrs L. Knapp, A. J. Cassels, 8. Reid, C. Geiseler, J. B. Pearson, S. G. Ware, P. T. Hogan, F. J. -McKay, C. L. .Lowe, H. J. Batten, H. Pritchard;, R. J. MacDonald, F. R. Waller, D. P. Wilson and D. Campbell.

Fourteen of the winners represented the South Island, in eluding eight from Riecarton stables, but the ten North. Island successes included the winners of the Grand National Steeplechase, Winter Cup and Grand National Hurdles.

B. H. Morris, witlv three wins, was the most successful rider during the throe days' racing at Ricearton, while A. McDonald, L Tilson, W. Paseoe, E. C. iSyme, A. E. Didharn and I’. Voight each rode two winners, while jockeys with one win were: L. Hunt, A, J. Peart, D. O'Connor, G, Dempster, H. Dulieu, L. L. Morris, P. Adams, M. Nicol and R .Coveney.

Day Comet was the lending sire at the Grand National meeting; his progeny won four races, and as they earned £2535 in stakes he was easily first also in the stake list. Quin Abbey, Chief Euler, Balboa, Solforino and Honeybee each claimed two winners, while the sires with one winner were Thurnhany Nassau, St. Amans, Clarenmix, Gold. Soult, Royal Stag, Birkdale, All Red, Surveyor, Demosthenes and Formative,

ELLERSLIE TRACK WORK.

LITTLE DONE THIS MORNING,

(Special to “'Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day.

A strong easterly, accompanied by rain, made matters very unpleasant foj: training work at Ellerslie this -morning, Only the sand track was open for fast work, (but it was in good condition, although there was not a great deal of work done on it.

Abbot’s Delight completed a six furlong’s task in 1.21 1-5, and hit out very freely.

Zircon strode over seven furlongs iii L 45, but was not hurried at any stage.

Adjuster finished in front of Kawiti after running dhe last half mile of their work in 54 sees.

Master Boon, Measurer and Mon Star finished as named at the end of fiye furlongs in 1.0 1-5.

Fair Abbey was a shade in front of Lady Spalpeen at the completion of seven furlongs in 1.41.

Catona Mountain Guide, Standfast, Otranto, Marita, Autonme, Stonewall, New Boy and Taneriri were engaged in useful work.

W. Donaldson has arrived at Ellerslie with Master Arch, who is engaged in the Pakuranga Hunt Club Cup, in wFieh event he will be ridden by J. Leach.
