SCHOOL CONCERT, (From Our Own Correspondent,) Th*e pupils of the Kaikohe Public School gave a concert ou Friday night, when the .spacious hall was packed to the doors. The teachers assisted by many willing helpers, succeeded in training the many performers to a very high state of perfection, even overcoming stage fright. The programme consisted of concerted action songs and choruses, dances and playlets in which all the various actors portrayed their respective parts meritoriously. Special mention may be made of the play “Mother Goose's party." The :Snpw Ballot, in which six tiny tats represented the snow flakes was really good and the drill of the Mulligan Guards simply brought down the house. The concert was organised to purchase books for a school library and the takings exceeded the most sanguine expectations of the organisers the net proceeds being about £26. GOLF CLUB. The Medal round was completed on Saturday and the following were the best cards returned, — Men. —Guerin, 92 gross, hdcp 22—70; Hurley, 96 24—72; Beau, 103 28—75; Heslop, 91 15—76; Dickeson, 112 33 79; Thompson, 113 39—79. Ladies.—Mrs \\lcoek, .105 .39—66; Mrs Edwards, 115 48—67; Mrs Brown, 117 48—69;- Mrs Heslop, 117 48—69; Mrs Bean, 121 48—73; Mrs Ellery, 113 39—74. SCHOOL FOOTBALL. NGAWHA WIN SEVEN-A-SIDE. A school seven-a-side Rugby tournament was held at Kaikohe on Saturday in which six schools participated. The afternoon’s enjoyment was spoiled by a heavy shower of rain which made the eonlditions very tricky for the barefooted players. Results: — First round.—Ngawha 17 beat Kaikohe Native 5; Waihou 6 beat Okaihau East 3. The latter fixture comprised the two lightest -teams. They were very evenly matched ’ and played the best game of the afternoon. —Ngawha 22 beat Waihon 0; Kaikohe Public 11 beat Okaihau Public Works 8, Final.—Ngawha 14 beat Kaikohe Public 0. RUGBY. JEBKOVICH CUP.

The Kaikohe Seniors visited Raw-one on Saturday to sustain their challenge for the Jerkovieh Cup. After a very close game they were beaten by six points (two tries) to five. The visitors had 'their strongest team for this match, the first of the season, but they were outplayed by the home forwards. PEARSON CUP. The Kaikohe Juniors were asked to defend this trophy by. the Ohaeawai Juniors at Kaikohe, but had no trouble to retain possession. The challengers fielded a weak team and the defenders quickly rattled up ,12 points and took ■the game easily, winning by 26 points to 6. BASKETBALL. NGAWHA SCHOOL VICTORS.

A school basketball tournament was held at Kaikohe on Saturday for the Herbert Smith Trust Cup. The teams were from the Kaikohe Native,. Kaikohe District, Ngawha, Ohaeawai, Okaihau and Waihou -Schools. Some of the games so evenly icon-tested that extra time -had to be played to obtain a decision. Several of the players showed extraordinary skill in goal throwing. The results were as follows: First round. —Kaikohe Native 20 beat Ohaeawai 0; Waihou a bye; Ngawha S beat Kaikohe District School I; Okaihau a bye.

Second round. —Kaikohe Native 16 beat Waihou 0; Ngawha 4 beat Okaihau 3, a very interesting game. Pinal.—Ngawha 3 beat Kaikohe Native 4, The scores were even when time was called and Ngawha won the extra spell.
