WRESTLING

VICIOUS VANCE. GARDENI FLUNG OVERHEAD. N.Z. ASSOCIATION BOUT. (Special to “Northern Advocate.”' AUCKLAND, This Day. The third programme arranged by the New Zealand Wrestling Association was decided last evening before a largo attendance. The main bout was the professional light-heavyweight one between “Far mcr” Vance, of Canada, 12st 71b. and Mirraci Garden!, of Chicago, 12st 21b. Vance obtained a fall in the fifth round by throwing his opponent heavily right over his head. He dropped Gardeni to the mat and easily pressed his shoulders down. A sympathetic crowd cheered Gardeni, but loudly hooted the winner. Vance made an attempt to address the crowd, but could not make himself heard above the din created by the occupants of the gallery and stalls, the latter having clambered over chairs up to the ringside.

At the Press table Vance was heard to complain that he had not been given another opportunity of meeting Tom Alley. . PESEK DEFEATS EUSTACE. . (Australian Press Association.) (Received 8.38 a.m.) - SYDNEY, August 10. A huge attendance at the Stadium tonight witnessed a fast and vigorous wrestling bout of eight rounds between John Pesek and Allan Eustace (both Americans), the former gaining the decision on (points.
